Four Home Remedies for Glowing Skin!

Every person who is conscious about his/her looks craves about glowing skin. These days, pollution and unhealthy food habits can leave our skin dry and dehydrated. This can be extremely detrimental to our skin health as the skin is devoid of moisture and nourishment. Going to the parlour for facial on a regular basis can be expensive as well as time consuming, therefore one can use a lot of home remedies for glowing skin.

  • Fuller’s Earth or Multanimitti face mask- Multanimitti/Fuller’s earth is a sort of clay which has magical cleansing and skin detoxing properties. Fuller’s earth derives its name for the ability to absorb grime and grease which was used in ‘fulling’ (a process involved in the cleaning of sheared wool). Multanimitti has been used by uncountable number of families across India since early times. It contains volcanic ash and minerals which leave a fresh porcelain texture to the skin and makes it fresh. You can combine Multanimitti with rose water and apply it as a face pack to tighten your pores. However overuse can make the skin very dry.

  • Malai, Haldi and Besan- This combo of gram flour, turmeric and cream has been used since ancient times in India for glowing skin. This mixture is very popular during Hindu wedding ceremonies where the bride’s entire body is covered with turmeric or withbesan. This usually gives a glow to the skin which usually lasts days at a stretch. Besan is ideal for oily skin and if it is combined with Malai, it leaves a healthy shine to the skin. Turmeric on the other hand contains bioactive curcumin which contains anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Potatoes- Dark circles can prevent you from achieving a radiant glow and can make you look tired and sleepy all the time. If you have dark circles, you can put potato slices under your eyes for a few minutes. Since potatoes contain starch, it can soothe under eye bags and tighten the skin around the eyes. Dark circles are usually caused due to blood coagulating beneath the skin located under the eyes. Potatoes contain powerful enzymes that act as a bleaching agent to reduce dark circles naturally.

  • Sandalwood paste- Sandalwood is also known as Chandan. Just like all the other home remedies for glowing skin, this is also quite effective. Apart from this, it has a lovely fragrance which lingers on your skin even after application. Not only does it work as a complexion enhancer but also has antiseptic qualities on the skin.
